“THE INFLUENCE OF WEST CULTURE IN THE GLOBALIZATION ERA”

السّلام عليكم ورحمةالله وبركته

الْحَمْدُلِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَلَمِيْنَ. الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى اَشْرَفِ اْلأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالمُرْسَلِيْنَ. وَعَلَى الِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ.  اَمَّا بَعْدُ.

First of all, lets pray and thank unto aur god Allah the almighty. Who has been giving us mercies and blessing so we can attend and gather in this place without any troubles and obstacles.

            Secondly, may sholawat and salam always be given to our prophet Muhammad SAW. Who has guided us from the darkness to the brightness from jahiliyah era to the modern era namely Islam religion.

            Thirdly, in this good ocassion, I would like to deliver my speech under the title “THE INFLUENCE OF WEST CULTURE IN THE GLOBALIZATION ERA”

Globalization era is challenge for everyone to always ready compete in competitive life. Because in this era many people try to get much money and social status confession. As like the wise word says “first come first serve”. Sometimes we don’t know which one is really our friends and which one is our enemy. Friends can be enemy and enemy can be friends. They ruin each other.

فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُون (الأنعام : 44)

“Than, when they forgot that where of they had been reminded, We opened unto them the gates of all things till, even as they were rejoicing in that which they were given, we seized them unawares, and lo! They were dumbfounded.

Nowadays, Indonesia is surprised by new sensation of youth’s habits. It can be known from their custom, tradition, language, appearance and their daily lifestyle. The daily lifestyle that they often call it “modern trend” we don’t know exactly their habits from their own mind or not, but several of them because of the influence of west culture which is coming to Indonesia.

The influence of west culture has almost spread all of Indonesia region. Not only to the young people who are inclined to the glamour life in the big city but also to the young people who are far from crowded in the village.

Ladies and gentlemen, talking about the influence of west culture we can divide to be two sides ; the first side positive effect. It’s related with language. We have known well that several of Indonesian students study other Indonesia language such us: Arabic, English, dutch, japan and so on. But recently, they like more using English to be second language in their daily life. It’s good, because we have known well that English is an international language which is used by many people in this world.

So, it will make easy for them to communicate with other people in the broad. And the second side is negative effect. It’s more dominant than positive effect. Maybe everyday we see it on the television; kissing between man and woman when they meet each other, the woman wear the custum showing their genitals that make the man desire, free sex, pornography, porno action and so on.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are as young generation we must able to filter which one the best one and which one worst one from west culture, so that our original culture isn’t lost from our beloved country. Don’t cheat whatever coming from west culture. Let’s keep our good morality wherever and whenever we are.
